Spain is one of the best destinations for couples because it offers so many different ways to travel together.
You can spend a few days exploring the architecture and restaurants of Barcelona, escape to the beaches of Mallorca, discover the romantic streets of Seville and Granada, or slow down among the mountains and green landscapes of northern Spain.
And while the destination matters, where you stay can completely change the experience.
For a romantic trip, I tend to look for hotels with something a little more special: beautiful design, character, intimate spaces, a great location, or simply an atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and enjoy your time together.

Set inside an elegant 19th-century villa in the Gros neighbourhood, Villa Soro has just 25 rooms across the main villa and its former stables. The building has been carefully restored while retaining many of its original details, including high ceilings, fireplaces, a carved wooden staircase and a stained-glass window.
What makes it particularly appealing for couples is the atmosphere. Despite being in the city, the hotel describes itself as offering the feeling of being in the countryside, with gardens, peaceful common areas and a more intimate atmosphere.

If Villa Soro is about the feeling of staying in a private villa, Lasala Plaza Hotel is all about the location and the views.
The 4-star superior hotel sits in the heart of San Sebastián, next to the Old Town and overlooking the harbour and La Concha Bay. Its rooms include options facing the sea as well as historic rooms, and the hotel has a rooftop overlooking the city and bay.
For couples, this is a particularly good option if you want to be able to walk everywhere.
You can start the day with a stroll along La Concha, spend the afternoon exploring the Old Town, stop for pintxos, and return to the hotel for sunset views without having to worry about transport.

This 4-star superior boutique hotel is located in a historic building opposite Port Vell, right in the historic centre of Barcelona. The building dates back to the 16th century and was later restored as a residence in the 19th century.

The location also makes it easy to explore the Albaicín and historic centre on foot.

6. Helguera Palacio Boutique Antique — Cantabria
This is the hotel I'd choose when the goal is not simply to visit a destination, but to escape somewhere together.
Hidden in the Pasiego Valleys of Cantabria, Helguera Palacio Boutique Antique is a 17th-century palace transformed into an intimate antique hotel with just 11 rooms. It is an adults-only property surrounded by nature.
Every room has its own personality, with antique furniture, period pieces and carefully curated interiors. The property also has a wellness area, swimming pool, gym and the Trastámara restaurant, which focuses on Cantabrian cuisine and fresh local produce.
